Jim Scarano

From engineer to psychologist to counsellor to teacher of the Alexander
Technique to author and publisher; from a poor childhood in Southern Italy to a
life of abundance and prosperity in Sydney Australia; from a devout Catholic to
a student and master of Vedanta, Jim Scarano brings to the reader a wealth of
knowledge and experience, combined with practical procedures for personal
development, self-understanding and spiritual evolution.
His writings are practical, yet full of knowledge and wisdom acquired from
the application of the same methods and sources that he teaches and promotes.
As an engineer, Jim became expert in the field of technical writing, his
services being widely sought after especially in the field of defence
electronic systems.
In parallel with his contract work as a consultant, Jim has been teaching
the Alexander Technique since 1978. Around this time Jim quite accidentally met
his spiritual mentor "Rahujan" from whom he received the rare
opportunity to be initiated into the esoteric teachings of Vedanta and Bhakti
Yoga.
Since then, Jim has devoted a large proportion of his time to develop, teach
and write about those aspects of Vedanta philosophy which may be applied in
practice towards achieving self-realisation, contentment, productivity and
enjoyment in life's abundant gifts.
His first book, Readings and Practices for Self-Realisation, provides
such guidelines and information.
His second book, The Alexander Technique in Daily Life, is a
comprehensive exposition of this wonderful technique for self-improvement in
all areas of activity relating to the effective use of our body in action. Jim
clearly outlines the methods and procedures adopted by teachers of the
Technique everywhere on how to prevent aches and pain which can result from
inappropriate postures and mental sets (attitudes and beliefs).
His third book, Sankhya Yoga - Nine Steps to the Self, is based on
the ancient teachings of a section of the Vedanta spoken by the Avatar Lord
Kapila. It deals with the elemental substances which comprise our universe and
our present incarnation. The elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether, Mind,
Intellect, Ego and Self are the nine steps involved in the achievement of
Self-hood and with it the ultimate fulfillment of life's purpose and goal.
Also on the Eastern Philosophy area, Jim has compile some ten or twelve
talks of spirituality that were given by his Guru in Sydney at around 1975, and
has appropriately given this collection the title "Rahujan
Speaks".
His own family history has further been recorded both in English and in
Italian in two twin volumes with respective titles From Scrub to
Skyscrapers. and Dai Boschi ai Grattacieli.
